Eiffel Tower tickets split mainly into second-floor access and full summit access. The summit costs more — here's whether it's worth it for you.
Second floor: the better value for most visitors
The second floor sits at roughly 115 meters and gives you sweeping views of Paris along with access to restaurants and shops. For most first-time visitors, this is enough — the difference in view quality between the second floor and the summit is smaller than the price difference suggests.
The summit: worth it if you specifically want the highest view
The summit adds roughly 276 meters of additional height and includes a recreated Gustave Eiffel office display. If "standing at the very top" is specifically the experience you want (or you're visiting for a special occasion), it's worth the upgrade — but going purely for photos, the second floor is usually just as good.
Stairs vs. elevator
Stair access (where available) to the second floor is typically the cheapest ticket option and skips the elevator queue entirely, at the cost of around 300+ steps. It's a reasonable trade if you're reasonably fit and traveling light.
Timing tip
Evening slots near sunset are the most requested and sell out first — if you want that specific golden-hour view, book well ahead. Mid-morning slots are usually easiest to get on short notice.
